Utilizing In-House Storage

A more advanced way to work with media is connecting the FathomNet Portal to cloud or remote storage outside of the Portal.
While the FathomNet Portal can be a great place to store, or link data for reference, a third option exists in how to work with data in portal. If your data is an internally storage container, and cannot be moved - or re-uploaded to the portal, this is the option for you.
Our backend structure allows for media to be created and video transcoded into storage facilities owned and managed by third parties. In doing so, all of the data will stay in one place for the users. This option is doable but to start on this path, the team will need to work with your organization to ingest the data. The ingestion cannot be facilitated directly through the UI, but once the media is into the backend it can be worked with normally within portal - using video playback, and annotation tools as needed.
Media hosted within a third-party (your in-house) storage option creates a lot of options for users with this specific need. This media will not be hosted in our system, only its metadata will be which can be exported out at any time. The media access and metadata access is controlled by the underlying Portal project's permissions and user roles.
